The Philanthropy Workshop Cohort 18 Module 3 - New York

Module III of TPW continues to build on the leadership and strategic grant-making skills of Cohort 18: focusing on questions of advocacy, coalition-building and collaboration, it explores the role of philanthropy in public policy and civic life.  Skills-building sessions include advanced due diligence, evaluation and supporting leadership. As the culmination of the workshop, participants present and defend a proposal that they are planning to fund or a broader funding strategy that they intend to implement. This exercise allows participants to hone their grant-making and anchor their philanthropy in a strategic framework while receiving feedback and thoughtful analysis from their fellow participants.

TPW Alumni Reunion - New York

Join us in New York over 1½ days and reunite with your fellow TPW Alumni.

As ever, the New York TPW Alumni Reunion is a unique occasion to share the challenges and successes of your charitable work, as well as both offer and seek advice from your peers in a private, confidential setting.

This year's Spring Alumni Reunion in New York marks a special time in the life of the Institute by starting with an evening reception both honoring Salvatore LaSpada and welcoming new CEO of the Institute, Kurt Hoffman, hosted by a TPW alumna at her home on May 16th.

Over the course of the Reunion, philanthropy experts will also join us, sparking dialogue on emerging issues of the day and the role philanthropy can play.  Specific topics for discussions will include: Collaborating and Mobilizing Resources; Building Social Movements; Examining Global Sustainable Development (with the run-up to the Rio+20 Earth Summit); and Fostering Social Entrepreneurship.

As an added bonus, we schedule reunions at the same time and place as current TPW modules so that you can meet the new cohort of philanthropists in training.  We hope to see you in May!

TPW Alumni Deep Dive Skills Day: The Philanthropy of Changing Minds - New York

Build your knowledge and hone your strategic philanthropy skills through these 1-day intensive workshops designed exclusively for TPW Alumni.

Taught on the day immediately prior to the New York Alumni Reunion, our first of these ‘Deep Dive Skills Days' will focus on Advocacy as a sophisticated tool for lasting change. Whether your purpose is to advance an idea, argue a position or enrich governmental policy debate, this workshop offers reasons and strategies on how to effectively do so through targeted advocacy initiatives for large-scale social impact. A second workshop will be held in London this autumn with specific content to be announced.
